INSIGHT / COMPLIANCE

How to define a question about public links in compliance

A broad concern becomes analytically useful when it names the relationship, time period, decision and threshold of relevance.

Public association is not misconduct. A link map does not replace legal, regulatory or organisational assessment.

In summary

Define the relationship, not the conclusion

Ask whether specific public sources support a stated connection during a relevant period, and identify what would count as sufficient corroboration.

Elements of the question

Entity, relationship, time and materiality

Specify which people or entities may be linked, what type of link matters and why the organisation needs to know.

Include alternative explanations and negative findings rather than treating absence as proof.

Keep regulated KYC, AML, sanctions and employment decisions in their proper processes.

Output

A reviewable record for a human team

The material should show each source, its date and context, the cautious inference and what remains unresolved.
